How to Sprinkle Christmas Into Your Home Via Your Interiors

Posted on November 25, 2020January 14, 2021 by David Jackson

Every year, we seem to read stories about one resident per neighborhood going the extra mile when it comes to their external Christmas lights. These anecdotes go beyond festive; they’re extravagant, but signal to us all that it’s the start of the holiday season.

Today isn’t about showing you how to do that. In truth, you probably need to enlist the help of an electrician (and a lot of ladders) to achieve similar effects.

Instead, today is more about the interior of your property. Whether you are having a tight-knit affair over Christmas, or if you are inviting the entire family around (local rules permitting), let’s dive into some of the easiest ways to sprinkle the festivities into your home via your interiors.

Make sure your home ‘smells of Christmas’

As we all know, we live in a world of first impressions. Quite often, visitors frequenting your home have probably been on a long journey to get there, so the welcome of Christmas scents is something that should be never underestimated.

Nowadays, it’s pretty easy to achieve as well. The obvious way is via candles and one only has to take to a local market to see swathes of Christmas-scented candles on offer.

Or, to also give your rooms that elusive Christmas appearance, consider plants and flowers. Avas Flowers are commonly used around this period of year and there is some excellent inspiration on the Avas Flowers Pinterest page. This Avas Flowers reviews page also contains some ideas on how you can use festive choices such as poinsettia or even rosemary to satisfy both the looks and smell elements of your Christmas-themed home.

Don’t ignore your windows

Some people will turn to darker and cozier blinds or curtains, but there’s an even simpler solution if you put your mind to it when it comes to your windows.

This comes in the form of basic stencils or lighting. The former is something that is particularly appealing for little ones, but lighting can be for everyone. Whether it’s by synthetic Christmas candles or a nativity surrounded by lighting – it shows the outside world (and those inside, for that matter) that you mean business when it comes to your Christmas decor.

The power of soft furnishings

Following on from the previous point, you can go a step further with your soft furnishings. It doesn’t just have to be about cozy window furnishings, this can extend to cushions, rugs and anything in-between.

You might have a sofa which is as cool as can be, but a throw in classic Christmas tones can make the difference and transform your space into something that is utterly festive.

Create an ‘even spread’ of Christmas

Most of us, quite rightfully, will concentrate on the living room when it comes to Christmas. After all, this is the so-called primary room in the home.

However, there are others which you certainly shouldn’t ignore. If you have overnight visitors, guest bedrooms are an obvious one, while the kitchen can also be a welcome addition. Try not to put all of your eggs in one basket and instead sprinkle the festivities across your entire home.
